Transport Minister demands that airBaltic explains Soviet military ...

Aivis Ronis

Transport Minister Aivis Ronis is shocked by advertisement activities of the Latvian National airline airBaltic, which offers discounts for flights related to Soviet military holidays ? Soviet Army Day and Navy Day.

Because of this reason, the minister decided to dismiss Kaspars Briskens from his post at the airline as a representative of the Transport Ministry, BNN was told at the Transport Ministry.

According to Ronis, Briksens has not been controlling the company?s activities reasonably enough to prevent Latvia?s national airline from popularizing the holidays of a non-existent army and navy, which are celebrated in the honour of the Soviet army?s first major victory over the German forces at Narva and Pleskava.

?The airline?s marketing and ticket sales strategy should comply with the status of a national carrier and responsibility that comes with it,? ? notes Ronis.

The Transport Minister has requested explanations from the enterprise in regard to the aforementioned fact.

On Tuesday, February 19, airBaltic announced that Eastern Europe celebrates the Men?s Day on February 23. In honour of this holiday, the airline has prepared a gift ? a coupon worth 20 EUR for flights to specific destinations.
