Sony Xperia ZL visits the FCC with the ability to run on AT&T's pipelines

The Sony Xperia ZL would be the flagship model that any manufacturer would be proud to call its own. Except, of course, for Sony. The Japanese manufacturer has the water and dust resistant Sony Xperia Z with a slightly larger footprint than its little brother. The Sony Xperia ZL has just visited the FCC so that it can be used in the United States even though it is not being subsidized by any stateside operator. An unlocked version of the phone has appeared on Sony Mobile's U.S. website. The Sony Xperia ZL appeared at the FCC with support for HSPA over the 850/1700/1900MHz frequencies and LTE bands 2,4,5 and 17. In other words, it was a perfect match for the AT&T network. Now, this does not mean that the phone is coming to AT&T as a subsidized model. That might be reserved for the Sony Xperia Z as the water resistant feature could help differentiate the phone from the other 5 inch FHD Android models around like the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and the HTC DROID DNA to name a pair. On the other hand, AT&T could decide to offer the Sony Xperia XL, the Sony Xperia Z, either phone or none at all. When the nation's second largest carrier does make a decision, we will let you know immediately. No need to thank us, that's just who we are.
