Fighting games are the fuel that flows through the veins of our community; new installments in the most popular franchises and brand new series are mostly always welcomed with anticipation.
Capcom has more demands for new fighting games and updates to their current titles than any other company in the industry. One of the highest requested games right now is a brand new installment in the Darkstalkers series.
Shortly before PAX East 2013, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono hinted at making an announcement tailored to the FGC. Ono unveiled an update to the Street Fighter 4 series, which is another Capcom product highly requested by fans.
The fact that Capcom has chosen to update a previous title instead of releasing a brand new game on current-gen consoles could mean that they are waiting for the next generation to begin unleashing their new fighting enterprises.
Another title that was announced long ago but has seen a substantial lack of details divulged over the years is Namco Bandai's Tekken X Street Fighter. Katsuhiro Harada stated on Twitter that the reason for such minimal information on their version of the Street Fighter / Tekken cross over is due to the possibility of it being released on next-gen consoles.
If these companies decide to wait until PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's next Xbox drop, we may not see a new fighter until the beginning of next year at the very earliest.
Do you think fighting game companies should release more titles on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 or wait until the next generation of consoles are in full effect?
